SITUATION: | One of the largest convenience store chains in the country — with more than 1,900 stores in 14 states, primarily in the Midwest — was having issues with their water filtration systems, both with the frequent replacement of cartridges in their current system and with off-tasting water. |
EXECUTION: | One of the chain’s regional maintenance managers agreed to talk with a sales person from Antunes and a local sales representative to learn about Antunes’ VZN water filtration system. They discussed how the system, with its long-lasting ultrafilter and carbon cartridge, utilizes a combination of technologies to provide high-quality water at a low cost of ownership. Interested in seeing how the system works in an actual operation, the manager agreed to put the VZN-441V-T5 system into two stores for a 60-day test cycle. |
RESULT: | The 60-day field testing went very smoothly. Beverage quality improved, and the taste and odor issues were gone. The convenience store chain was excited about the results, and the VZN system went from testing for two stores to approval for the entire system, including new stores and remodels. After the VZN was approved, stores began ordering the new system, and to date, it is installed in approximately 600 locations. Based on the success of the VZN product, Antunes and the chain have begun testing a scale reduction system for the equipment that uses hot water. |
