How many times have you used water today? To wash your hands, brush your teeth or to drink? Here in the U.S., it’s easy to lose count and take clean water for granted.
Today is World Water Day, a day designated by the United Nations to focus on taking action to tackle the water crisis. According to the World Water Day website, 2.1 billion people live without safe drinking water at home — affecting their health, education and livelihoods. Aligning with the goals of World Water Day, we want to highlight the important work that Splash is doing to bring clean water around the world.
Splash Brings Clean Water to Children
Founded in 2007 by Eric Stowe, Splash is a nonprofit organization that provides clean drinking water to children in orphanages, schools, hospitals, street shelters and rescue homes. Antunes began working with Splash soon after its inception, and in 2011, we named Splash as our corporate charity.
To date, Splash has purchased and installed thousands of Antunes water treatment systems that provide clean water to more than 500,000 people each day in Nepal, China, India, Ethiopia, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Thailand and Vietnam.
The reliable Antunes water treatment systems provide the necessary means to generate clean water, utilizing Splash’s established networks to complete the installation projects in a timely manner and manage the projects on an ongoing basis.
Remembering the Importance of World Water Day, Every Day
In addition to being a valued product supplier, we also support the organization through financial donations from corporate initiatives and events, such as our golf outing, which have raised a total of more than $500,000 for Splash.
The 2020 Splash virtual gala outing was the most successful to date —raising more than $70,000 thanks to the generosity of the event’s sponsors and participants and the Antunes team members that helped make it possible.
“It is remarkable how so many lives are uplifted and protected through Splash, and how much of a real difference we can all make,” said Glenn Bullock, Antunes CEO.
Through our work with Splash, we better understand the need for clean water and have seen the life-changing impact of their programs. We’re proud to partner with them today, World Water Day, and every day.
