- +34 is the area code for Barcelona, hold down your “0” on keypad to get the + sign.
- The water is safe to drink from the tap, but even the locals buy by the bottle at the store to drink water.
- There are two floors before Floor 1, Elevator buttons will say “P” then “E” then 1.
- Using the Freenow app or hailing a taxi is your best option via car
- If people are confused/deny tipping, it is because tipping is not expected in Barcelona – but many appreciate it. (Per McD corporate)
- Credit card friendly area, although helpful to have a few small euro bills on hand
- Between the hours of 2/4PM to 8PM, most places are closed for “la siesta” or mid-day “nap”
- There is still places that are open during this time – just minimal
- A good idea to keep snacks in your hotel for this time of the day
- In most places there is 1 bathroom door that leads to men & women stalls.
- iTranslate is a great app — make sure you are translating to Spanish (Spain)
- If something is not translating in Spanish, it is most likely Catalan – local language
- Consum, Aldi, Mercadona, Lidl and Caprabo are your main chain grocery stores.
