CAROL STREAM, IL – Antunes, recently completed the installation of 936 solar panels over 40,000 square feet on the roof of its Carol Stream, Illinois, headquarters. This installation is the latest development in Antunes’ commitment to sustainability and its goal of a 20% reduction in electrical energy usage by 2020.
Antunes will start collecting about 36,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month, or 430,000 kWh annually. The solar panels generate 12% of the total electricity used by Antunes in Carol Stream and will reduce Antunes’ carbon footprint by an estimated 9% annually.
“Since the installation work began last November, we have been eagerly awaiting the completion of the solar panel project,” said Glenn Bullock, CEO of Antunes. “The solar panels will generate enough electricity annually to power the equivalent of 41 houses and bring us significantly closer to achieving our sustainability goals.”
In addition to the solar panels, by 2020, 35% of the company’s energy purchases are slated for renewable energy, including solar or wind.
Antunes is committed to making a positive impact through charitable outreach, environmental sustainability, community involvement and supporting its team members. To learn more about these initiatives, visit the company’s corporate social responsibility page.
